Sunrise Bethel Christian School is based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea and is an R – 3 non-denominational, Pentecostal, co-educational school and is part of Adelaide Christian Schools, a ministry of the Adelaide Christian Centre, CRC International Church based in Adelaide.The school is located on the Bethel Tabernacle of Praise Church which is the largest CRC Church in Papua New Guinea.
Sunrise Bethel Christian School, PNG has approximately 120 students, and approximately 15 staff.
For many years it has been on the hearts of the people involved with ACS and their schools to develop a mission school in PNG. This vision was to follow the work of Pastor Barry Silverback and build schools in order to help equip God’s people in order to build nations. Pastor Barry has been the forerunner of the development of over 400 churches in PNG and works in Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon’s, Sri Lanka, India, the Philippines and Myanmar.
The vision of ACS is to provide an educational programme that is offered in every village in PNG where the CRC Church has presence. In 2010 the vision was birthed with the development of a new school at Port Moresby, partnering with the Bethel Christian Centre.
This continuation of this vision will be to include educational programmes from pre-school to tertiary education and general adult education classes throughout PNG.
Our mandate is to:
Teach Children To offer excellent Biblical, Christ centred educational institutions in Port Moresby to provide a base for teaching children, training teachers and building communities in PNG and the whole of the South Pacific region.
Train Teachers To provide a central base for ongoing teacher training for those who are currently teaching and to train those who desire to be teachers.
Build Communities The building of communities will occur primarily through schools and Health education programmes. The facilities however apart from offering schooling will help build communities by developing a base for English as a second language and life skills development (leadership skills, finances, conflict resolution etc.) to people of all ages.
The establishment of Sunrise Bethel Christian School was primarily achieved through the generous donations of goods and monetary funds by the ACS Community and local businesses.We cannot thank these people and partners enough for being an instrument of the vision and therefore being part of God’s plan unfolding in Papua New Guinea.
